How to Split Lotus Notes NSF Database NSF files?
Split Larger size NSF files and make it smaller by date, year, email address, folder, and size.
Break NSF files into smaller parts instantly with the help of "eSoftTools NSF Splitter Software". Split NSF database files of HCL/ IBM/ Lotus Notes. Split Notes NSF files using a variety of splitting methods, based on Size, Date, Year, Folder, and Email Address.
Step-1) Download, install & Launch eSoftTools NSF Splitter Software on your computer.
Click on Select NSF button, after launching the software.
Step-2) From the next screen, choose a file selection mode for adding NSF files: -
- Single NSF File Split: - Use this option for adding one NSF file at one time.
- Bulk NSF File Split: - Choose this option for adding multiple NSF files at once
Step-3) Import NSF files into the software by selecting any one file selection option.
Browse & Select NSF files
1) Click the "Select NSF File" or "Search NSF File" button, and import NSF file into the software.
2) After importing NSF files, press the "Start Scanning" button.
Add multiple NSF files at once
1) Click Add NSF file or Add NSF folder button and add all your nsf files from different locations.
2) Add all required nsf files, then hit the "Start Scanning" button for loading all NSF file with its inner data into the software.
Step-4) Load all data items and its inner folders from selected NSF files into the software.
Step-5) View inner folders and items of selected NSF files and make selection of required folders.
After folder selection from NSF files, follow the below given steps to Split Notes NSF files: -
Split Large NSF in Smaller size NSF files by following the below mentioned steps:-
Step-5) Click on Split NSF button and select Split By Size option, then apply these settings.

- Provide Split Size:- Enter a split size to generate new NSF files with defined size (Minimum Size= 28 MB to Maximum= No Limit)
- Filter Emails:- Choose a "From" and "To" Date for exporting data of only specified period.
After all required selection, click on "Next".
Step-6) Click on "Browse" from the next opened screen and choose location for saving resultant files.
Lastly, hit the "Convert" button and begin the process of NSF file splitting by size.
Step-7) Software will complete the splitting process and provide you process completion message.
Split Notes NSF files by date:-
Step-5) Select required folders from NSF files, and click the Split NSF button from menu bar.
- After getting the new screen apply this setting.
- Select a Date Range:- Select a "From" and "To" date for splitting NSF files with the items of specified date range.
After applying the setting, hit on "Next" button.
Step-6) Click the "Browse" button, from next screen and select a saving location.
Choose location where you want to save resultant NSF files, then press the "Convert" button to begin NSF file splitting process by date.
Step-7) The software will complete the NSF file Splitting job and provide window with message "NSF Splitting Process completed Successfully".
Split NSF files by Year:-
Step-5) Click on Split NSF button and choose Split By Year radio button from next screen.

- Select Year:- choose a "Start Year" and "End Year" from predefined list of years
- Custom Year:- Input a "Start" and a "End Year" manually.
- Filter Emails:- select "From" and "To" date for exporting data from NSF files of selected dates
After selections, hit the "Next" button.
Step-6) Click on "Browse" button and choose a saving location from your drive.
After saving location selection, click on "Convert" and start the NSF file splitting by year.
Step-7) Start splitting NSF files by year, and complete it with in a very short time.
Split NSF files by Folder:-
Step-5) Select needed folders from NSF files and select Split By Folder radio button.

- Split NSF by Selected Folder:- Create a single NSF file for all selected folder
- Split Folder-Wise NSF file:- Create separate NSF files for Each selected folder of NSF file.
- Filter Emails:- Choose dates in "From" and "To" field and perform splitting process with data of only speified date.
After applying this setting, press the "Next" button.
Step-6) In the next screen, click on "Browse" button and choose saving location.
Lastly, click on "Convert" button and begin the process of NSF file splitting folder-wise.
Step-7) Complete the folder-wise nsf file splitting process through the software.
Split NSF files by Email Address:-
Step-5) After folder selection, click on Split NSF button and select Split By Email Address radio button from new opened screen.
- Select Other options:-
- Search Email Address in:- Choose "From", "To", "BCC", or "CC" attribute and input email address.
- Filter Emails:- choose a "From" and "To" date to export data of specified dates from NSF files.
Apply this setting and click on "Next".
Step-6) Click the "Browse" button to choose a location for saving splitted files.
After saving location selection, press the "Convert" button and start NSF file splitting with data of specified email address.
Step-7) Split NSF files with the data items of specified email address and get instant results with process completion message.
